Hello Charm City, as most of you already know, we have been discussing a major change to Charm City, specifically adding Membership Dues.

 

Charm City has always been dedicated to making it as easy as possible to make films and to build a community of story tellers.  A big part of that is having a studio full of equipment that is ready at a moment's notice to leap into the story telling fray.

 

But that is expensive and quite frankly we have been barely paying the bills.  So, to keep the lights on, we are going to start collecting Membership Dues.

 

Starting on October 1st, we will be collecting Membership Dues.  Let me be explicitly clear on how this will work.

 

There will be several tiers of Membership.

 

The first level is Associate.  You are all right now, Associates.  Which means you are on the email list, and you can attend ANY of our events.  This tier is completely free.  If you want to stay at this tier and keep coming to events, then you are fine.  No change needs to be made whatsoever.

 

The second level is Member.  In addition to being on the email list and coming to all events, you will also be able to vote in upcoming Board Member elections.  You will also potentially be on the Board as well if you are elected.  And you will get a Member discount on any Charm City Merch you buy.  This level costs $10 a month or $110 a year depending on your preference.

 

The third level is Director.  In addition to all the privileges of being a Member you can also Direct films in the Wave and if you have already Directed a film with Charm City and published it, then you can make a film whenever you want.  You will get to use the Studio for free, and you will not have to pay the Security Deposit.  You can also check out gear and props for free as well.  This level is $20 a month or $220 a year.

 

The fourth level is Producer.  You will get all the privileges of being a Director.  But you will also get Producer credit on any film that is made while you are an active Producer.  That will include IMDB credits as a Producer on any film made during your tenure.  This level costs $50 a month or $550 a year.

 

The fifth level is Executive Producer.  You get all the privileges of being a Director, and you will get Executive Producer credit on any film made during your time as well as IMDB credit as well.
